update

April 23, 2008 by sugarshane

so I emailed and called the seller about the car this past weekend. It was sold on Saturday. So I was a little late. Oh well. Now tomorrow I have senior testing, its some survey testing on general Bible knowledge. They make every transfer/new student take the test when they enroll then when they graduate. It is to see how much we learned. Its pretty dumb to me because isnt that what grades are for?  I mean the testing is scheduled from 8-12 tomorrow morning. That is pretty long. I dont wanna go, but I have to. AND when we are finished we will be receiving our cap and gowns. so thats creepy. Im about to be FINISHED.

just some thoughts

so im about to graduate. gonna have bills and such. I love the car i have but have just been playing around looking at cars on autotrader and all. mine does have 165000 miles on it. ironically i found i car i would love to get, but i just had brakes, a water pump, and an electrical thing fixed. plus to get the car i would have to work something out with my dad. now this is actually a possibility for a few reasons: he loves my car and takes it from time to time anyway. so i may be able to get him to buy the car i want for me and take my car, 2 i am gonna be working and living with him so a good amount of my bills will run through him. now what the car is, its a lil older than i was thinking but i love it. its a 97 cadillace eldorado (a 2 door caddy) silver with red/maroon – i think the technical term is sunburnt leather interior. 97000 miles. fully loaded. 3400$ wishful thinking im sure. but still fun none the less.

Graduation

April 10, 2008 by sugarshane

So I know its been a while since I got on here, but it is because I have been swamped with schoolwork lately. Its finally getting real, I got my graduation tickets in my student mail the other day. Im just kinda creeped out by being in the real world and on my own. Thats gonna be weird. I already got a problem with graduation, they only gave me 8 tickets, relax, i can get more, but now I gotta do more work and email and request the tickets, get approval, then go get them. ugh all this work, just so i can walk across a stage dressed like a goof and get a piece of paper. oh well, its MY piece of paper haha.

So I cant help it. I LOVE basketball. This time of year is the greatest time for me. All the games on TV, its springtime and the parks are starting to populate. I drove past a park the other day with about 25 guys at it playing. there were games on 2 of the 3 courts plus a few standing around. I love it. Ball everywhere. These are some commercials and clips of MJ that I think are phenomenal. take some time and watch em.

career

I was able to work with HoopED over spring break and I loved it, and apparrently the founding coach loved me too. He thinks it would be a great career for me to start and build my own branch of his HoopED in carroll county, allowing him to expand outside of DC where he coaches high school and runs HoopED. I have limitless potential with this company and am interested in building it. I just have no idea what I would do the first few years until it was enough money for me to live off of. I also am not sure if the age group and target athletes is the group i want to work with (1st-6th sometimes 8th grade co-ed that are casual to serious athletes). The founder is more than willing to help me build it by coming up and “endorsing” me, helping from time to time with the camps, allow me to use his website (www.hoopeducation.com) and insurance. So it is a pretty sweet deal.

I was also told he can help place me for a coaching position. He coaches at an AAIM A school, which is the most competitive and highest level of prep basketball in MD. he said he is more than willing to be a great reference for me to use, and even will keep his ear open for coaching positions that come up. He did even state that he is thinking about starting a freshman team next year at his school. The other little glitch is he coaches girls. Something I never thought about. Just a lot for me to take in and pray about.

does growing up mean growing dumber?

March 25, 2008 by sugarshane

so I dont get it. People continue to allow themselves to be put in situations to get hurt or bring on drama and then wonder why it happens. I have now had a situation with a friend that now has 3 “you were right” conversations. This friend has brought pain and drama on themself 3+ times and has come to me for advice. The advice and future that I foretell has come true now at least 3 times that I know of. how long does it take people to learn? What is so attractive about something that has brought anguish so many times? I mean a kid burns his hand on a hot stove and wouldnt do it again on purpose, so as we get older do we get dumber? If something has brought pain more than 1x doesnt that mean its a trend? why do we as so called educated adults so often allow the same recurring drama and pain into our lives?

this is what its all about

This video is of christian rapper rawsrvnt performing a unique rendition of the worship song holiness. I think this is what its all about. God created us all different and the different styles of christian music and ministries out there today prove that. I think that is what God really likes. He wants us to worship Him, but we are all different. I know tons of people that would never ever ever step foot in the church I grew up in but would react to this video because it caters to their personality. I personally know a group of people from my college that use break dancing, yea thats right, to minister to people on the street. they go to battles and shows and get to perform, but their music is not secular. This gives them an in to present the gospel to people. During their shows they also stop and take time each show to discuss their relationship with Christ. anyway I think you get the point. Watch and enjoy and let it open your eyes to what true worship really is.

being sick + good things

March 13, 2008 by sugarshane

So I have been ill for over a week now and I think I am finally getting past it. I have not gone to a full day of classes since last Thursday, and even then I missed chapel. I have had trouble sleeping, and had a killer sore throat for what seems like forever. I have been popping the pills for about 2 weeks and I finally have made it to a tolerable state. Just cant let the time between pills be too long or the headaches come back. It truly sucks. I got spring break starting tomorrow after classes and I do not want to be sick for that.

Sindi got me connected to a guy that runs an afterschool & summer camps program called Hooped. check out his site (www.hoodeducation.com) I am supposed to go down and meet with him one day next week. He was interesed in me working with him and possibly doing a mentorship with him and running my own branch of his company up in carroll county. This is ideally what I would like to do. so pray for me and i will keep you posted. He did say he has 2 weeks in June he wants me to work with him already. He asked if I wanted to work 10 straight weeks or just here and there. I said that depends on finances. He understood. I dont think I can live, now independently, on the money the low guy at basketball camps makes.  Either way its exciting. So I will keep ya posted.

graduation scare

March 10, 2008 by sugarshane

So this weekend I get an email from the registrars assistant telling me I am 6 credits short of graduating and they need to know what I was going to do or if we need to mover my graduation date. I knew they were missing one class since the winterim I took thru carroll community (CCC) had not been sent up yet. I took care of that this weekend and just have to wait for LBC to get the transcript. I was still short 3 credits.

Now I am totally ready to be done with college and have double and triple checked myself. I had met with my advisor before the spring semester started and had all my credits covered by incoming transfer classes I had taken at CCC and they were just waiting on the transcripts for the fall semester classes I took at CCC and the CLEP test I passed. So I shot an email back saying these are all the classes you should have for me from CCC and clep, please fix the problem because I thought I was on track.

They misplaced a class as a different elective. Once they saw my email they went back thru and double checked and saw their error. I got a response this morning that said everything was covered and as soon as they get the trasncript for my winterim I will have everything I need. THANK GOD. I definitely did not want to be thinking I was done in May and find out I have one class missing. It would not have been that big of a deal to have to take 1 or 2 classes over the summer or fall but just the false hope of being done then finding out I wasnt would have been really upsetting.

So I am graduating May 10 if I can pass CD this semester, which I am awaiting my first exam grade in right now.
